Grab & Go Protein Ball Recipe

Grab & Go Protein Ball Recipe

These fabulous protein balls, which can be whipped up in just a few minutes, are loaded with fiber, healthy fats, and plant proteins that promise to deliver tons of long-lasting energy.

Making protein balls at home is a great way to save money as well as reduce packaging waste. Energy bars are omnipresent in grocery stores these days, touting organic ingredients and protein-rich recipes. Avoiding overly sweet carb-rich snacks can be tricky when you’re on the go, but buying commercially made protein bars isn’t the answer. They’re expensive and create a lot of unnecessary waste.

We think you’ll love these energy bites that pack some serious pow when it comes to protein thanks to a combination of peanut butter mixed with an organic, plant-based protein powder. The protein powder is made with organic sprouted brown rice, yellow peas, hemp, cacao and other real food ingredients clearly listed in plain English on the back of Livwell’s kraft paper (no plastic!) packaging bags. It’s dairy-free, soy-free and gluten-free.

So whether you’re heading to school, the office or need a little pick-up after working out, we think you’ll enjoy this DIY make-ahead snack grab-and-go protein peanut butter protein ball recipe that’s ideal for packing at room temperature in one of our zero-waste ECOlunchbox bento lunchboxes and containers.

Peanut Butter Protein Balls

1 cup organic rolled oatmeal (choose gluten-free if desired)
1/4 cup peanut butter (either creamy or chunky)
2 scoops LivWell cacao plant protein
3 tbsp. water (add more if needed)
Optional: 1 tsp. agave
Optional: 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Add oatmeal and LivWell cacao plant protein to a food processor. Pulse until ingredients form a flour-consistency. Add peanut butter, water, and agave (if desired), until mixture sticks together. Add mixture to a large bowl and use your hands to mix in the chocolate chips.

Roll into balls and serve immediately or store in an air-tight, plastic-free container in the fridge.
